Frank Groth

“AI and autonomous systems are set to transform our world at an ever-increasing pace. Solutions must focus on the essentials to capitalise on this – they must be agile, pragmatic and grounded in experience.”

Info

Qualification: Solution designer, consultant and manager for digital strategies and autonomous systems
Industries: Industry, Shipyards, Maritime Logistics and Services, Public Sector, Administration

Drawing on extensive practical experience, Frank Groth supports companies, organisations and public authorities through their digital transformation. He designs platform architectures for autonomous systems, robotic fleets and AI-powered mission control environments. His work focuses on integrating drones, mobile robotics and autonomous maritime systems into scalable operational platforms for industry and public infrastructure.

Throughout his career, he has designed and implemented major digital transformation projects for public authorities and infrastructure companies, including citizen service platforms, nationwide service hotlines and complex operational control systems.

Today, he focuses on building the next generation of mission platforms that combine robotics, AI and human decision-making into trustworthy, legally compliant and operationally scalable systems. In his role as a consultant, he supports organisations in the strategic deployment of autonomous systems, from testing and prototyping through to real-world operational deployment.

Key Areas

  • Multi-domain operations (MDO), critical infrastructure: A thorough understanding of the interaction between systems in the air, land, water (above and below the surface) and cyber domains, interoperable networking, standardised communication, resilient system architectures and consideration of regulatory frameworks. Knowledge of how sensor technology, autonomous systems and digital control centres interact across domains to enable protection, surveillance and situational awareness for critical infrastructure from all relevant perspectives.
  • Autonomous systems (USV/UAV/UUV/UGV) swarm behaviour: Design and implementation of AI-supported mission and fleet management platforms for the coordinated use of autonomous systems – from drones and mobile robotics to humanoids and maritime platforms – and integration into existing processes and system landscapes.
  • Government, citizen services, eGovernment, VTS centres, BOS applications (authorities and organisations with security tasks): Design, implementation and modernisation of digital government processes – from citizen information systems such as the D115 Service Centre and specialised hotlines at federal level to safety-critical specialist procedures and traffic control centres in the Port of Hamburg, as well as the transformation of traditional processes into integrated building blocks of modern eGovernment platforms.
  • System architectures, cloud/edge, zero trust, BSI baseline protection, agile: Design and implementation of digital solutions across the entire architecture – from communication and application infrastructures through edge and cloud systems to the targeted use of artificial intelligence, complemented by cybersecurity, zero-trust application security, user-centred UX/UI design, the use of open standards, and AI-based rapid development. Approach based on Scrum / V-Modell XT.
